DIY Mini Pontoon Boat Kits (2-Person)

$1,499.00

With your budget and our standards in mind, we’ve developed a DIY Boat Kit so you can build your very own Pond King Pontoon Boat. These handy little 2-man fishing pontoon boats are perfect for fishing private ponds. Because of their size, these boats are only rated for an electric trolling motor - a 45-pound thrust with a 36-inch shaft would be just fine.

If you are looking for a boat that can handle a larger body of water where there may be waves or accommodate more than 2 people or is built completely of aluminum, check out our line of small pontoon boats

Awesome!

I am glad I decided to purchase the basic DIY mini pontoons. I am a poor carpenter, but I was able to complete the building of a pontoon boat that glides through the water with ease. I love this little boat and I'm proud to show it off.

Awesome

It was a breeze to put together. I did it by myself even though an extra hand would be helpful. Directions were very clear and easy to follow. I'm getting lots of great comments from friends. Can't wait to get it in the water. Thanks for a great product.

Hey Mike - Glad it was easy to put together, even though you did it yourself. It is definitely easier with a second pair of hands. We'd love to see photos of the boat on the water! Enjoy! Your friends at Pond King

Very pleased with the DIY Boat Kit

Very pleased with this boat. All parts were in the shipment and all fit as designed by the directions. I live on a 6-acre pond with 14 other neighbors. This is a perfect boat for a pond because you can't count how many times I dumped the water out of my other boats every time it rains. Thanks for the fast shipping, and a very well-designed boat. Will probably be getting more business from this area. Thanks, Brett Anderson

Thank you, Brett. The boat looks awesome. So glad it's saving you time not having to bail it out every time it rains. That's exactly what we had in mind when we designed it. Sincerely, Your friends at Pond King

How to accept a DIY Boat Kit shipment

We stand behind our products, and we do all we can to pack everything securely. Unfortunately, once an item leaves our facility, we have no control over the shipping process. If you accept a shipment that has sustained damage, neither you nor we can make a claim for the damage, so it is very important that you examine your shipment BEFORE accepting it.

Here's how to properly receive your Pond King products:

    • Inspect all boxes/pallets and make sure you have all the pieces to your order.
    • Check the bill of lading from the delivery company to make sure you have all your boxes/pallets.
    • Report any missing boxes/pallets to the driver and NOTE ON THE BILL OF LADING. Get it in writing!
    • Next, inspect all the boxes/pallets for anything that looks like damage. If there is a punctured or smashed box/pallet, open it, and make sure that there is no damage.
    • In the event of damage, you must report it to the driver and NOTE ON THE BILL OF LADING. If you do not note the damage on the bill of lading, you are confirming that you received the goods in perfect condition, and you release both Pond King and the shipping company of any liability on the shipment.

Pond King is not responsible for any damage caused during shipping by a third party.

  • What’s the difference between the Mini Pontoon Boats and the Small Pontoon Boats?

The main difference between Pond King’s mini and small pontoon boats isn't just their capacity (the mini boats are 1 or 2 person) but also the size body of water for which they are appropriate. The Pond King mini pontoon boats are intended for smaller bodies of water, specifically ponds or limited access fishing on lakes, whereas the small pontoon boats can handle larger bodies of water.

What’s the difference between your Mini Pontoon Boat Models?

The Rebel is a one-man, mini pontoon boat, but the DIY Boat Kit and the Patriot Pontoon Boat are both two-man boats that require some level of assembly, and then there is the Champ - which is all aluminum and comes fully assembled. You can use this handy mini pontoon boat comparison chart to see the differences for yourself.

Once I've placed my order, how long will it take to get my Pond King Mini Pontoon Boat?

All of Pond King's pontoon boats are made to order, right here at our facility in Gainesville. Once we receive your order, we'll get started building your boat but production time will depend on when you place your order. (If you are ordering between March and June, call for an estimated delivery time.) COVID-19 UPDATE: Some of our lead times have been impacted by COVID-19. Please call to get an estimated ship date before placing your order. The boat KITS are currently taking 4-6 weeks, whereas the other boats are 8-10 weeks.

    What are the decking materials?

The decking on the DIY boat is totally up to you - although we strongly recommend marine grade plywood. You can purchase the optional finish out package and apply premium carpet. The standard decking on the Patriot is made of premium-carpeted, marine grade plywood, but you can upgrade to aluminum tread plate with a skid-resistant powder-coating. The standard decking on the Rebel Modular Mini Pontoon boat is marine-grade plywood with carpet, but you can upgrade to the aluminum deck that is aluminum tread plate with a skid-resistant powder-coating.

Do Pond King Mini Pontoon Boats require much maintenance?

The Patriot’s deck is made of marine grade, carpeted decks, and you’ll have control over the type of wood used on the DIY boat, so, yes, these boats are pretty rugged. You may eventually need to replace the wood - but not for years to come. The Rebel comes standard with a marine-grade plywood deck with marine-grade carpet, so this boat will be very hardy - and you can upgrade to an aluminum deck to make it virtually maintenance free. All of these boats will require less maintenance than your average V-hull or John boat.

Why do the DIY and Patriot have 4 pontoons but all the small pontoon boats only have two?

The DIY boat kit and the Patriot have 4 pontoons because we wanted to be able to ship these boats free. So, instead of one long pontoon on each side of the boat platform, we made two shorter pontoons. Functionally, on the water, they provide exactly the same stability and buoyancy as a single pontoon would, it is just that the smaller pontoons make it possible to ship free.

How are the Mini Pontoon Boats delivered?

The True Do-it-Yourselfer Mini Pontoon Boat Kit, and The Build Your Own Boat Kit Plus ship via ground to any address in the lower 48 states.

The Rebel, Patriot Mini Pontoon Boat and Minimal Assembly DIY Boat Kits ship via motor freight or can be picked up at our location.
